Who Qualifies for VA Aid & Attendance?
Military Service Requirements
The veteran must have served at least 90 days on active military duty, with at least one day of service during a defined period of war. The VA’s wartime periods include: World War I, World War II, Korean Conflict, Vietnam Era, and Persian Gulf War (August 2, 1990 to present). The discharge must not have been dishonorable.
Surviving spouses of veterans who met these service requirements may also apply — the veteran does not need to have been receiving Aid & Attendance at the time of death.
